Officina Italiana Design is the name of the design studio that takes care of all the Riva projects nowadays. We had the opportunity to talk with Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, its directors, on the occasion of the presentation of the SportRiva 56.

Integrated in GCA, arquitectes associats, one of the large architecture studios in Barcelona, this sailor and Barcelonian architect puts in his interior design works an innovating, light and enthusiastic hallmark.

The software used by the aeronautics industry is being applied to yacht desing by an increasing number of shipyards and designers.

Lone voyager and racer, sail designer, adviser to boatyards and expert in classic boats, this Dutch naval architect has left his mark on the most important sailboats of the last few years.

It is now 25 years since Bill Dixon began his successful career as an independent designer. Promising student of the deceased Angus Primrose, Dixon has created an unmistakable style and has a curriculum vitae plenty of successes.

To convince the world most demanding owners and to connect with their tastes is the specialty of this English designer, master of the categorical and sculptural shapes that bring together the searched for visual impact with the necessary timeless factor.

A variety of styles,but mainly all kind of care for the technical details and the naval engineering have given to this legendary design studio a renewed prestige in the current industry.

Pascale Reymond, head of the inseparable tandem integrated by herself and Andrew Langton since 2001, does not feel ashamed in admitting that the 42 meters Gloria Teresa launched last year saved the life of the studio. "It was the first design contract for a large yacht that we signed, when we had been existing for five months and the money that we had saved was reaching to an end" – she explains that it happened during the 2001 MonacoYacht Show, where the design company made its first public appearance.

Fulvio de Simoni is one of the most prolific yachts designers. His name is attached to many of the great manufacturers and also to smaller shipyards.The beginning of his collaboration with Rodman also results in that he also is the trend designer at the present time in Spain.

The interior finish of yachts, despite being large, continues being the redoubt and monopoly of the experienced carpenters. There are signs of changes, because the wood is more and more being combined with materials like leather or metal, but the core continues demanding professional carpenters.
