The pleasure of the sailing
Very few are the opportunities to sail on board of Perini during a regatta with winds of over 30 knots, with hundreds of square meters of sail putting tension on the halyards and sheets of impossible diameter while the shrouds where transferring the enormous pressure of the rigging on each square centimetre of the hull without the slightest vibration moving the glass of champagne you had just left on the table of the upper bridge. This is the opportunity that Perini offered to us: racing at the 2009 edition of the Perini Cup on board of Perseus, along the Costa Smeralda, against a fleet of 18 other Perini.

Meeting of the big ones
Who says that a comfortable cruiser can not be a good racing boat? The Bordeaux 60 Palma Rally is a good example of it, a race organised by its yard, CNB, that brought together in Mallorca half of the Bordeaux 60 produced so far during two days of inshore racing. This confirmed the regatta qualities of one of the most spacious and comfortable cruisers in that length: in fact the latest winners of the ARC and the JP Morgan Round the Island Race have been Bordeaux 60.

The Bay of Palma was witness to the fierce competition between the 18 fine examples, in an event that, both on land and at sea, provide fully satisfactory for both owners and crews.

Twenty maxis, almost 200 yachts
The first sports event of the season in the Mediterranean circuit consolidates as the meeting of large yachts and is a good training for a new class of Mini Maxis, which allows to the world’s best crew to excel.
The outer quay of the Real Club Nautico de Palma, sometimes known as Siberia, was during the weekend of the 16th to the 19th of April 2009, anything but icy. The club had erected there a wonderful marquee that housed several help desks, and gathered before the races, but especially after them so many familiar and cheerful faces, such a gathering of athletes and owners, that it could have competed with Saint Tropez or with Antigua at their height.
