The largest Astondoa
Amaranta is the second steel and aluminium super yacht by Astondoa, the first one in a series called 150 Steel. Being exhibited at the past Barcelona International Boat Show, highlighting the progress of a great part of the Spanish yachting industry to face larger challenges.
The Spanish group Astondoa has steadily bet for really big units, with projects and realities in the field of displacement super yachts, with steel hull, aluminium superstructure and bulb on the bow. With a length of 43,40 meters, Samurai One was a couple of seasons ago, the yacht which opened this new aspect for this Santa Pola based company. Amaranta is the second one and even larger, as it measures 45,50 meters. Both are among the largest yachts ever built in Spain.
The exterior design of this yacht has been developed by the Astondoa technical team that has managed to give to it a very dynamic character despite of its enormous volume. Therefore they have played, firstly with the colour of the hull, so that visually the whole has been lightened, the shapes chosen for the windows also contribute to it, both on the hull and on the superstructure. The hull goes up to the main deck level to embrace at full beam almost half of the bow, where the owner’s cabin is positioned. This is accompanied by two large windows on each side, with some curved shapes that seem to reproduce the shape of the hull itself, this solution has also been used to define the finishes of the walkways by the elevation of the hull, in an harmonious way. The upper deck has been arranged with a Portuguese bridge going down through a central corridor to the technical area forward, the resulting roofs on either side of this corridor are used to create two separate sunbathing areas. The windows of the superstructure and the winged shape of the upper poop remember, however, other models from the Astondoa range, hence bringing some unmistakable family features. As for the interiors, designed by the Italian cabinet led by Cristiano Gatto, they have developed a highly versatile distribution and technical solutions that provide a high degree of comfort to the guests, with a special emphasis on the separation of the circulation between the guests and the crew.
