A home at sea

Presented at the 2008 Cannes yacht and boat show, the Ferretti 840 Altura has experienced a gradual success, as shown by the award recently received for best layout for a yacht over 24 meters. In this article we discover the reasons for its success. 

 The name of the model honours the Altura 42, a motor sailor built by Ferretti in 1970, when the company had not favoured its activity exclusively to the construction of large motor yachts. Ferretti Yachts manufactures two Altura models. This one was presented at the 2008 Cannes yacht and boat show and its predecessor was the Altura 690, introduced in 2005. Both differ from the rest of the range for its aft-cabin distribution, with the owner’s cabin located astern, under the cockpit, and for the beige colour of its hull, among other things.
As all the current models of the Ferretti Yachts range the design of this yacht is a work of Studio Zuccon International Project, led by Giovanni Zuccon, and AYT (Advanced Yacht Technology) the Engineering Division of the Ferretti Group. Between the two studios they have developed a project for veteran owners who want to spend long periods on board and to which it is attributed a superior knowledge of the marine activity, people who want the boat to live it more than to show it off, although there is no objection in showing off a yacht of nearly 30 meters. The result has been extremely successful, as evidenced by the fact that in the past Cannes yacht and boat show it was awarded the World Yachts Trophies 2009 for the best layout for yachts over 24 meters.
