THE SMALL CUSTOM
This is the newest model by Johnson Yachts, a shipyard based on the island of Taiwan. With a design from the British studio directed by Bill Dixon, it made its appearance in Europe during the 2008 Palma boat show. A generous beam and the enormous adaptation capacity to the owner’s tastes are some of its main features.
Johnson is the name of a shipyard based in Taiwan, with over twenty years of experience in shipbuilding. Its current range consists of three models of 77, 87 105 feet, with the upcoming launching of their new flagship, the Johnson 125. Johnson Yachts builds yachts only for its own brand, with this strategy, the yard is an exception among its competitors on the island, which in most cases are working for various companies. The family owned business employs 260 workers which allows to manufacture 10 yachts a year, with a delivery time of approximately one year.
A characteristic that is common to all the Johnson is their design, coming out from the Dixon Yacht Design studio, headed by the Briton Bill Dixon. But each one of these yachts is offered with different solutions in terms of distribution and profiles, as all of them are available in sky lounge or fly bridge versions, a very modern solution that proposes a completely closed upper deck. In addition, the yard has the potential to adapt each of their units to the tastes of the owner, changing the layout of the decks, the design of the cabins or the selection of equipment and materials. The name of the yacht is also different depending on the length of the swimming platform, an appendage that is highly valued in the European market and that implies a couple more feet in the name of the models. Thus, the basic model is the Johnson 75, but under the name of Johnson 77 when the platform is larger, as in this case. The same goes for the largest model of the make, which is available as 103 or 105, depending on the swimming platform chosen.
Avantgarde Yachts is Johnson Yachts distributor for the whole of Europe, with the participation of the German company Yates Alemanes, well known in Spain for its charter services and for being the importer of the German sailing and motor boats make Bavaria.
