MAGELLANO 74New team of designers to develop a new typology based on a new hull design. All new for the launch of the new Magellano range by Azimut. We had the opportunity to sail onboard the first Magellano 74, first model of this series by the Italian make.

Let us go back in time. In September 2007, during the presentation to the international media that the Azimut-Benetti group held on the occasion of  XXX Cannes Yacht and Boat Show, Paolo Vitelli, the president of the company, announced the appearance of up to 25 new models in the following years and raised a mystery. Among those novelties there would be yachts that would belong to a new typology that Azimut had not approached so far. No more details were given, so the speculation began: Deep sea fishing? High Speed? Would Azimut manufacture sail yachts? The mystery was cleared during the last Genoa Boat Show when Azimut exhibited for the first time the Magellano 74.
The Magellano 74 is the first model of a new range by the Italian Azimut-Benetti group, a range that is born with the desire to grow with other models of greater length. This range is characterised by being a step ahead from the conventional explorer yachts, to which it is quite similar for its remarkable range, in this case estimated at about 1.100 miles, but with an innovative hull design that also lets it sail at a maximum speed of around 24 knots.
