The origin of Interceptor, Intruder, and QL, the three trim systems which have replaced traditional flaps can be found in the professional sector, specifically in high-speed ferries. Mounting conventional flap systems on highspeed passenger ships usually involves a major difficulty since there is frequently no space in the stern for large appendages such as flaps. The large scale plates and the corresponding hydraulic pistons required to move them do not fit in the stern of these ships, which
